ble Immune Deficiency and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, and has found it makes her more empathetic with other people. She and her husband enjoy "mindfulness meditation", and found it changed their life view. She has two grown children--Brooke, also an elementary school teacher, who lives in Albuquerque and is a terrific mom to her two children, and Cameron, the youngest, who is an attorney, working in his dad's law firm in Camarillo (and is an excellent family law attorney!). She is currently a care giver for her mother-in-law, who is 91, and a very loving person.
She and her husband love the beach, and enjoyed a beautiful vacation in Kauai last summer, where they took their entire family. Their very favorite place is Poipu Beach. Deborah also enjoys going to Laguna Beach, near where her sister, Pam Drake Carrie lives with her family.(Pam went to Poly as well--Summer '65).
One of Deborah's favorite quotes is:""In the eternal scheme of things, shining moments are as brief as the twinkling of an eye; yet such twinklings are what eternity is made of--moments when we human beings can say, 'I love you, I'm proud of you, I forgive you, I'm grateful for you.' That's what eternity is made of: Invisible, imperishable good stuff."".
